a return to INDIA

I AM GOING BACK TO INDIA! In late January 2014 I am headed back to the wonderfully juxtaposed country of India. This will be my third trip there, and my second trip going to work with Ashraya Mission.  If you haven't kept up or haven't ever heard of Ashraya Mission, it is well worth your time.

Ashraya Mission is a rehabilitation home in India for young women who have been trafficked (or are at risk of being trafficked).  Ashraya Mission offers a comfortable and safe living environment, quality medical care, trauma counseling, art/music therapy, education/tutoring, proper nutrition and an exposure to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  It's a wonderful mission dedicated to helping the women who enter the home discover that they are fearfully and wonderfully made, and that with hard work they can overcome what life has dealt them.

Here is a couple samples of the work the team and I did with the beautiful girls from the first class at Ashraya (fall 2012):

This was from a project we worked on at the home in the fall of 2012. "You are written on God's hands. What has He given you that is written on yours?" Young Anuja said that by her coming into Ashraya Mission, God has allowed her to GROW.

We also took some awesome head-shots of the girls. We wanted to give our supporters a faces to put with the stories of the girls of Ashraya. But for the girls’ safety we decided to only show their eyes in the photos. Here’s the lovely and humble Leel. Click the photo to see it as it appeared in National Geographic's Your Shot Daily Dozen on Sep 18, 2012. That was an exciting day at the office :)

While in India I will be serving as Public Relations support and in-house photographer for Ashraya. I will be responding to emails, managing relations with Ashraya's partner ministries in the community, writing about what's going on at the home for Ashraya's blog, and also updating their Twitter and Facebook.  I'm really looking forward to being back in India and serving Ashraya in any form. "Put me in, Coach!"

Even though living in India is very inexpensive compared to the states, traveling TO India is no cheap expense.  I head out in late January, and I am relying partly on donations for making this trip happen. I trust in God who daily blesses me with my family, work, means for an education, JOY, and a passion for life. I know that He is calling me back to India and His plan is better than anything I could ever imagine.  If you believe in my cause and the cause of Ashraya Mission, please pray for us. If you would like to contribute to my trip, head over to the DONATE tab for more info. Every little bit truly helps.
