Today KB, president of Ashraya Mission, had the totally awesome idea to do dramatic makeup on the women and shoot some close ups of them. We wanted these to be very mysterious on purpose, for the safety of the women. Take a look at how stunningly beautiful each of them are, and you can totally see each of their personalities in their eyes. KB did the makeup and I snapped the photos. Getting good shots wasn't difficult at all seeing how GORGEOUS these women are.
Yahweh
When we see the word LORD (with all caps) in the Bible, it stands for Yaweh. It appears 6,800 times in the Bible.
Out of all of the fourteen names for God, Yaweh stands out to me.
- Elohim
- Yahweh/Jehovah
- Adonai
- El Elyon
- El Shaddai
- Jehovah Jireh
- Jehovah Sabaoth
- Jehovah Rophe
- Jehovah Nissi
- Jehovah Mekadesh
- Jehovah Shalom
- Jehovah Tsidkenu
- Jehovah Shammah
- Jehovah Rohi
I love the simplicity of the name Yaweh. It stands for God's presence in his creation. "I AM." He is eternal, everlasting. He always was and always will... BE. He just IS. God IS. Yahweh IS. Our LORD IS. Isn't that comforting? He's not going anywhere, folks. He with us every step.
"and God spoke all these words: 'I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. You shall have no other Gods before me." Exodus 20:1-3
This is one example of Yahweh (LORD) being used in the OT, but I love this verse from the New Testament.
"I tell you the truth,' Jesus answered, 'before Abraham was born, I am!" John 8:58
Jesus was trying to say, "Hello! Even before wrinkly ol' Abraham, ya Isaac's dad, was born.. I was around!" I'm sure that threw people a little bit.
Though guilty of always beginning my prayers and praise with "Dear God" the name Yahweh is still so powerful to me. When I think of the name Yahweh, I think of a huge blue sky stretching out. Like a big blue sky in a desert area with no obstructions. Just just blue sky, in every direction. No trees, no mountains, just sky. That's how big Yahweh is.... but BIGGER. Yahweh, God, Lord, Jehovah.. He is infinite in every direction forever.
I really like the song "Yahweh" by U2. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOWAyBbN3C0&feature=fvwrel]
My favorite part of the song are the closing lyrics,
"Take this heart and make it brave."
