don't waste time being a busy bee

I remember the days of my childhood where my friends, brothers, and I would play outside for hours on end. Jumping on the trampoline, jumping out of the treehouse, swimming in the pool, hanging upside down from the swings set, and hiking through the woods were just some of the activities that we threw ourselves into every evening after we got home from school. We would get totally lost in our games, and wouldn't surface back to reality unless we got injured or our mom called us in to eat supper.

Why as adults do we forget the value of play? We fill our down time with television and social media as our entertainment. We allow ourselves to get so worn out while at work, that we have to be spoon fed our entertainment from the tv in the evenings. We don't think outside the box anymore. Sometimes I even sit down with a book I've been meaning to read, only to pick up my phone to check for text messages, and I end up scrolling through social media.

We must remember to take time throughout our busy lives to slow down and listen to what's around us, to regain perspective and recognize that it's really all going to be okay. And that we have nothing to worry about. Don't waste your time by filling it with the business of things that don't really matter. Put down those screens and go outside and watch the grass grow for a few minutes. It's a lot better for your stress, and your eyeballs.
